Task-Based Needs Analysis and Placement

Task-Based Needs Analysis
The main goal of a task-based needs analysis should be to discover the types of tasks students would like to complete.  Tasks should be relevant and meaningful to students, so the needs analysis should give them the chance to show their interests, needs, and wants.  Provide students with a list of tasks and ask them to choose which are most important for them.  They should also have the chance to add in their own tasks.

Task-Based Placement Tests

When using a task-based curriculum, school, program, or course placements tests should be task based.  Using a grammar-based placement test will not provide the results needed to properly place student into a task-based curriculum.  Ideally, create a task for the four language skills: reading, writing, listening, speaking.
